Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how SaltSignal (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use the SaltSignal mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Services”).
1. Who we are
SaltSignal provides dive and marine condition information and related features. For privacy enquiries, contact: support@saltsignal.com.au.
2. Information we collect
SaltSignal is designed to operate without user accounts or profile creation. At the time of writing, we do not intentionally collect personal information through the app or website.
Specifically, SaltSignal does not currently:
- require account registration;
- request device location permissions;
- use analytics SDKs for user profiling; or
- set tracking cookies on this website.
3. Operational logs and hosting
Our hosting providers (such as Microsoft Azure) may generate standard server or platform logs for service reliability, security, and debugging. Where those logs include technical identifiers (for example IP address or request metadata), we handle them only as required to operate and protect the Services.
4. Third-party data sources
SaltSignal displays marine and weather-related information sourced from third parties, including WillyWeather and the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). SaltSignal does not claim ownership of that source data.
5. Disclosure and third parties
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose limited technical data to service providers strictly for hosting, security, legal compliance, and service operation.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some service providers may process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure appropriate handling in line with applicable Australian privacy principles.
7. Retention
Where technical logs are created by infrastructure providers, retention is limited to what is reasonably required for operational and legal purposes.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Your rights
If you believe SaltSignal holds personal information about you, you may request access or correction by contacting us. Australian users may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). We encourage you to contact us first so we can attempt to resolve the issue.
10. Children
The Services are not intentionally directed to children. If you believe personal information has been provided to us by a child inappropriately, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address the issue.
11. Cookies and similar technologies (website)
SaltSignal does not currently use tracking cookies on this website. Basic browser or network level caching may still occur as part of normal internet operation.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
